Official Dungeons II key art / Xbox WireWhat is confirmed?
The official Dungeons II page describes the sequel as a dungeon-crawling action RPG with new missions, enemies, and areas. Xbox Wire adds the Sift-specific context: a bright new reality, hazardous blocks, shifting tides, and an interconnected world with rifts.
That is enough to explain the relationship. It is not enough to publish a complete bestiary, drop table, or map yet.
Dungeons II is not vanilla Minecraft.
Minecraft Dungeons II is a separate action RPG adventure. The Sift will later come to Minecraft Java and Bedrock, but the vanilla edition has its own release window and entry method still to be announced.
